The Church at the Centre is a United Christian
Congregation representing and supported by the Church of England, The
Methodist Church, The United Reformed Church and the Baptist Church. The
Congregation began meeting in Hillside School almost 40 years ago and
transferred to the Ecumenical Centre building when it opened in 1973.
The Church continues
to meet for worship and to support the work of the centre.
Our purpose is:
- To accept and respond
together our calling to be the presence of Christ in the world
- To express together the
presence of Christ through love, words, prayer, worship and action
- To celebrate and explore
together our shared beliefs and differences within the love of
Christ
- To seek to be Christ’s
presence in our local communities and in Skelmersdale

Although we represent a number of
Christian traditions we worship together as one congregation.
Our Chapel is used on most of
these occasions and is open at other times for private prayer.
There is a prayer board outside the Chapel where
requests for prayer can be left. These requests are used whenever we meet
for worship. Prayer requests can also be sent through the e-mail link below.
